RECIPE: Champorado – Filipino Cuisine

Good morning/Good afternoon/ Good evening guys! Just wanna share with you what I ate this morning (+8GMT).

Champorado or chocolate rice porridge is a simple and quick dish here in the Philippines.

Recipe (good for 2 person)

  • 1/4-1/2 cup glutinous rice (kaning malagkit in tagalo)
  • 4tbsp cocoa powder
  • 4tbsp sugar
  • 2.5 cups of water
  • Condensed milk

Pour all the ingredients (except the condensed milk) into a pot and boil it until the rice is cooked. Note that you should stir it occasionally to avoid the rice sticking the pot.  Once the rice is cooked you’re done! Just place it in a bowl and top it with condensed milk. Sometimes I use powdered milk instead of condensed milk. So it’s up to your own preference.

It is best served hot and usually paired with tuyo (fish), dried pusit (squid) or dried danggit (fish). Actually you can pair it with anything that is salty to balance out the sweetness.

‘Till my next blog!
